This is an Italian pastry shop sitting in the heart of a Queens, NY Italian/Greek neighborhood (Flushing or Auburndale, depends on who you ask) that offers your standard faire of Italian dessert, bread, cakes, etc. However, D'Aquila's rendition of the desserts is not as 'heavy' as the usual more "American" ones. And THAT, my friend, is a good thing.

Often times, the cakes you get at coffee shops and such are oversweetened, however, D'Aquila's regular cheeze cake, has thick consistency and is perfectly sweetened to a delightful balance. And even their marble cheezecake, which is usually sugared to the point where you can feel your tooth developing a cavity, is made with chocolate, cheeze, salt, and sugar at the absolute harmonious state.

It just doesn't get any better than that.

And while you are there, don't forget to buy some cookies on the way out. Again, in accordance with their flavor, they are not oversweetened. When you first take one of their butter cookies out from the box, you would feel they are light and will crumble nicely once you take a bite. And they do just that.

Overall, this is an excellent neighborhood pastry shop that offers great desserts at great prices.
